Every year!
HOW IT GOES
- 1Every year, on your birthday, the castle sends you a letter.
- 2Inside the letter there is a key.
- 3The key opens the Vault.
- 4You walk in. You pick one thing from the shelf.
- 5You leave. Nobody stops you.
The honest part
The letter is an email. The key is a code — 100% off one item from
The Vault Shelf, good for 30 days.
We are aware that a paper letter with a real key inside is better. Chet is working on it.

The rules of the room
- The shelf holds stickers.
One free item means one sticker of your choosing from The Vault Shelf, 100% off. The Vault is not large. That is what makes it a vault.
- The key arrives on your birthday and works for 30 days.
One use, tied to you. Nobody sane celebrates longer than a month.
- Once a year. Every year.
For as long as you keep having birthdays, which the castle encourages.
- Join at least a week ahead.
A birthday that falls within 7 days of signing up waits for next year. The castle has seen people whose birthday was, suspiciously, tomorrow.
- Month and day only. No year.
The castle does not need to know how old you are turning. Only when the cake is.
- Letters go out around 12:30 UTC.
The castle checks its list once a day. Sign up ON your birthday after the letters have gone, and it may not catch you until next year. The castle is a stickler. It is a castle.
You are on the list.
On , a letter arrives at .
Inside: your key — one item from the shelf, free. You have 30 days. Once a year, forever.
Letters go out around 12:30 UTC, once a day. If today is your birthday and the letters have
already gone, yours may wait until next year. And if your birthday is less than a week away, your first
letter waits for next year — see the door. The castle is a stickler. It is a castle.
The Birthday Castle is a birthday club: register a month and day, and every year on that day we email you a
single-use code for one free sticker from The Vault Shelf, valid 30 days. Join at least a week ahead —
a birthday within 7 days of registering gets its first code next year. That is the entire mechanism. The
castle is load-bearing set dressing. Questions go to the
complaints department, which is also the questions department.
